For the duration of WW1, the beautiful restaurant Pré Catelan, was transformed into a hospital. This hospital was fully funded by Dutch philanthropic organizations, which means that the staff and all supplies came from the Netherlands. My grandmother was a nurse at the hospital and my grandfather, an administrator. There they met and thanks to that experience I was inspired to write my new novel “After Paris”. Here are some photos from my grandmother’s photo album.
